In Japan, Dr. Shoji Yamashita of the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Nagoya, doing research on the physiology of florigen, the plant hormone believed to be responsible in turning buds into flowers, discovered that when a small amount of ferrous ferric (Fe2Fe3) salt were sprayed on the bud, the living water inside became excited creating a dramatic increase on its energy state, thereby playing an important role in flower differentiation of buds.
